Accessibility Statement

We, Choppy Water GmbH, as the website operator, are committed to designing our website in compliance with the applicable accessibility regulations.

Scope

This accessibility statement applies to the website:
https://www.choppywater.de

This website operates as an online shop, which is classified as a service in electronic commerce. It offers the option to order and pay for products electronically.

Such online services are subject to specific legal accessibility requirements.

In general, a website like this must be designed to consider the needs of people with disabilities and to support the use of assistive technologies (such as screen readers).

Specifically, the online shop must comply with the following four core accessibility principles:

  • Perceivability: The information and user interface components of the shop must be identifiable and accessible to all users.
  • Operability: The shop’s functions must also be usable by people with motor or cognitive impairments.
  • Understandability: The content and processes must be clearly structured, logically organized, and unambiguously labeled.
  • Robustness: The content and functions must work reliably—even when accessed with different browsers or assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers).

If the online shop offers products that themselves have specific accessibility requirements (e.g. digital content or devices), the shop must provide information on the accessible use of such products where available.

Additional Reasons for Delayed Implementation

Despite our ongoing efforts, there are technical and organizational barriers that have led to delays in fully implementing accessibility:

  • Technical dependencies on plugin manufacturers: Some critical plugins are currently not available in accessible or accessibility-adaptable versions. The required updates have already been announced by the manufacturers but have not yet been released.
  • Unforeseen system incompatibilities: During our preparations, technical conflicts arose between system components that can only be resolved by the respective system providers.
  • External resource limitations: Our specialized service providers for accessibility adjustments are working diligently on the implementation. However, due to high nationwide demand around the legal deadline, there are currently waiting times.
  • Immediate prioritization: The removal of existing barriers is our top priority. We are using all available resources to achieve the quickest possible implementation.
  • Interim support: Until full accessibility is achieved, we are personally available to support affected users in accessing information or products in the least restrictive manner possible.

Disproportionate Burden

The following content is currently not provided in an accessible format because doing so would impose a disproportionate burden on us:

Fully adapting certain system components for accessibility is currently not technically feasible due to essential plugins in use (e.g. [optional: specify plugins]). Customization or redevelopment would require significant financial and human resources that are not currently available. The economic burden is currently disproportionate to the expected benefits for the affected user groups.

Nevertheless, we are actively working to remove these barriers as quickly as possible.

Exceptions from Accessibility Requirements

The following content is excluded from the accessibility requirements according to § 1 BFWebV SH:

  • Video recordings provided by third-party manufacturers that are not yet available in accessible formats. These videos are not essential for understanding the website or the offered products.

Evaluation Method

The accessibility assessment was conducted through self-evaluation based on the criteria of BITV 2.0 and WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

A renewed review of the website will take place after 14 July 2025, following the release of new plugin versions. Subsequently, the website will undergo the BITV-Test to identify and address any remaining accessibility barriers.

Ongoing Measures to Improve Accessibility

We are continuously committed to improving the accessibility of our website. Close cooperation with our service providers and plugin manufacturers to optimize accessibility remains our top priority.

Even after the planned completion date of 10 July 2025, we will continue to regularly review and improve accessibility, as this is not only a legal requirement but also a matter of social responsibility for us.
